What you’ll get from this lesson: See the three walls beginners hit most, then pick one path you can follow end to end and finish a first result.
Prerequisites: No software installation required. Recall a time you followed a tutorial and stopped halfway.
Before the learning site launched, I ran a survey first, and 357 people filled it out. I wanted to know where everyone was really getting stuck.
The most common answer was “I have no idea where to start,” at about half. Next came the situations of people with more experience: they’ve watched many tutorials and still can’t piece things together, or the project gets messier as they go and ends up stalled halfway. Quite a few people were also stuck on which AI to use and how much to spend. There are too many choices, and every provider says it’s the best.
I’ve run into every one of these myself. So this article isn’t about tools. It’s about why people get stuck.
The First Wall: Not Knowing Where the First Step Is
It’s normal to listen to a lot of concepts and still not know how to begin. Everyone’s life and work are different, and other people’s examples are hard to apply directly to you.
I think the fastest and simplest way is to find a tutorial you can actually follow all the way through. When I first started learning AI, I just opened a video and followed along without overthinking. It doesn’t have to be one of my tutorials. YouTube videos and articles are fine, but there are two conditions: it has to really work, not teach half and hide half, and it has to be about something you need or are interested in.
The Second Wall: The First Version Goes Smoothly, Then Adding Features Gets You Stuck
Someone left a line in the survey that stayed with me: “The first version always goes smoothly, but as soon as I start adding features I get stuck, and once I’m stuck it’s two weeks.”
Honestly, I used to be the same. When I used AI to build a first version, it all looked great. But once I started changing and expanding it, things easily fell apart. Either it broke its own code, or fixing one new thing broke an old one.
This isn’t your fault. What’s missing is a method that lets a project keep moving forward: how to plan, how to test, and how to leave records so the next session can pick up where you left off.
The Third Wall: Scattered Tutorials Don’t Add Up to Something Usable
From learning n8n last year to learning all kinds of AI tools afterward, I kept noticing the same thing: it is very hard to piece fragmented, scattered free tutorials into something that really works.
Many tutorials only cover the part the author knows well, and once they’re done they move on to chase the next new thing, so nothing ever forms a system. To put together one usable result, you might have to watch five or ten different people’s tutorials. What makes it worse is that beginners can hardly tell where the problem is: did the author teach it wrong, did you do it wrong, or did the author simply never cover that step? You don’t even know what you’ve missed.
Pick One Path You Can Follow from Start to Finish
So when I designed the course, the direction I set for myself was this: one path laid out from beginning to end, with every lesson having a video you can follow and a plan document you can hand straight to your AI. The AI interviews you first, builds the version you need, and in the end you review it.
I also deliberately kept the barrier low: all you need is ChatGPT’s US$20-per-month plan to follow along, and I’ve tested it myself to confirm it works. That way you can try it at the smallest cost and see whether you can do it, whether you enjoy it, and how far you can go.
Start with the Free First Lesson
If you’re worried you don’t have the basics, don’t buy anything yet. The first lesson of L1 is free, and once you log in you can follow along and build your first Agent.
If you have questions while you work, ask your AI first. The plan document has complete explanations, and it understands them well. You’ll also be practicing the most important skill along the way: how to ask AI questions and how to work together with it. If you finish and still find it hard or can’t follow, please tell me. That means my teaching needs improving, not that something is wrong with you.
Check Before You Finish This Lesson
Think back to the last time you got stuck and decide which wall it belongs to: not knowing the first step, getting stuck when adding features, or the pieces not fitting together. If you can say which one, you can mark this lesson as complete.
That wraps up L0. When you’re ready, head to the free first lesson in L1 and actually build your Agent.
